Taking the kids ice skating is a winter treat and there are so many ice rinks to choose from right now, especially in London. I'll be going to The Natural History Museum this year I think. When we lived in France the ice rinks were perfect for little kids, they had these little stands that children could hold onto and push along for balance as they skated... perfect! Now if only they had them for adults too.
I
took a couple of ice skating tips from an ex professional skater the
other day, and I'm pretty terrible and balance, coordination, that sort
of thing, but if I'm taking the kids I'd better well be ready! The
trick is to push away to the side apprantley rather than directly
behind you and to sort of glide your legs out diagonally, move your
arms and keep your balance!
