I’ve recently met a number of people who are
recommending writing your morning pages every day when you get up, as soon as
you get out of bed. I met the most wonderful
woman last week, Jenny who has just published Life Coaching for Dummies! Congratulations Jenny! Jenny was also incredibly passionate about
her experiences at the Anthony Robbins Unleash the Power Within event which she
has been to twice and I am going to next June. She really made me thrill at the thought of walking over those hot
coals! Any way, basically the idea of
the morning pages comes from a book called “The Artists Way” and it is a great
tool for writers and everyone else as really to get rid of all those
thoughts that block us throughout the day hence enabling our minds to be free for
creativity for the rest of the day.
The idea is that by getting up and simply writing (you are supposed to hand write 3 A4 sheets - I type about 1) you are still in your sleepy subconscious state and can get all that stuff out of your head, whatever it may be. Simply write whatever is on your mind, write and write and write until it is all out. Then you are free to blog, or work, write or get on with your day, free from all that stuff that swims around up there! You are supposed to do this for 8 weeks before reading it back! Not sure that reading back one’s stream of consciousnesses from the past 2 months would make any sense but ever since I met Jenny I’ve been writing the morning pages so will await the results. Higher creativity here we come!
