My first game of Cashflow is off to a flying start. Although I don’t win I come second, own a Gold Mine and have an income of $1.3 million a year… and I don’t even remember the numbers of multiplex housing units I own! Does anyone know the difference between a condo, apartment, single plex, multi-plex, 8-plex etc?
But you do have to really concentrate, to roll the dice to keep on focus. It is a game that really does imitate life. It’s quite a bonding experience too with Judith, Nicola, Janet, Pete, a lovely PR lady from Norwich and Kate Bacon who I met years ago on a TeleClass and meet for the first time since in the flesh.
So in the game I make all my money initially on the stock market, by buying 1000 shares at $1 each. When Pete draws the market card and they’ve gone up to about $40 each I sell them and make my money…..that’s it really in two quick moves I’ve enough money to go in for the big deals and start investing in property fast. I was so impressed when the Janitor was out after buying two properties. Basically you can get out of the game as soon as you make in passive income what you made in the job.
As I wonder whether this strategy would work in real life too, having left the stockmarket lane alone until now.
Another thing I hadn’t realised is how Judith presides over the game. Coaching everyone as ever, teaching us how to play, helping us with the paperwork and explaining to us what we are learning before we can even see it! Having her insightful comments and support is incredibly helpful and we all leave the game inspired and intrigued by just how much similarity there is between the way we play this game and the way we play life. You bet I’ll be back next month to learn more.
Cool to meet you too (finally) in the flesh!
This game is great learning isn't it? Funnily enough I was looking at a property site for the Caymans (my sister works there and is buying a condo) and they had an apt complex up for $2million, with a ROI of $200,000 a year from rental income. It was just like Cashflow, but real life!
